Hello, everyone!! My name is Iori Takeshita. I am sophomore in Chukyo University. I am from Mie prefecture. I study Russian, Education, and international relations. My faculty is the school of international liberal arts study. So it's a little hard to say what I am studying. Maybe many subjects...haha :)
Today I will explain about my university, Japanese culture and so on...
My university is located in Nagoya city Aichi prefecture. perhaps, the city is not familiar with foreigners. However, this is important and historical place. Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi toyotomi, Ieyasu Tokugawa were all born in Aichi prefecture. They are famous Japanese generals. Moreover, Toyota city is also in Aichi prefecture. Many people know what Toyota is. yes, the big car company came from Toyota city Aichi prefecture. My university have two campuses. one is in Toyota!!
if you want to know more, please check http://www.chukyo-u.ac.jp/ here.
Next I will focus on Japanese pop culture. Many students who study Japanese are interested in manga or anime probably. Of course I've watched a lot of animations and manga. why do these works attract many people in all over the world? I have some answers for it.
First, Japanese manga is not only for children but also adults. sometime authors of manga draw it for adults like literature. you can see adults who wear on suits read manga in train.
second, manga presents Japanese culture. Japan was unity country for a long time ago. So we just obeyed what generals say. ( of course sometimes we resisted) But we resisted authority to use cartoon instead of arms. still now Japanese people don't avoid joining some demonstrations. however, we tend to like express our opinions on some manga or cartoon.
This is my own opinions. There is no answer why manga is so popular and attractive. Everyone has each opinions. Please remember what important thing is to enjoy it. But don't forget manga don't represent from all Japanese culture.
hum, it's hard to write a blog and choose topic. next I will write blog in Japanese...maybe.
I will respond your comments as soon as possible if you have comments.
thank you for reading my first blog!!

Introducing: Deanna Garrison
Hi everyone! My name is Deanna Garrison. I'm 21 years old.
I've decided to write my first post in English. Do all of you like to study English? I think it'd be a difficult language to study with all our strange rules and pronunciations. Good luck in your English studies!
I'm in my last year of college at Michigan State University. I graduate in May and I'm going to apply for the JET Program so I can come back to Japan. I'm not sure what career I want to have in the US so I'd like to take some time to figure that out. I hope I get accepted to JET! I studied abroad in Hikone, Japan this year. Hikone was too small for my liking. I traveled a lot though. I went to Mie-ken to visit my cousin, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Tokyo. I had fun exploring Japan.
I've been studying Japanese for close to 5 years now. Studying Japanese is difficult but I love the language.
I have an older sister, a brother-in-law, and my parents live close enough that I can visit them on the weekends. They have two cats and a dog that are fun to visit. My mom and I like to bake together. Now that Halloween is coming we want to make Halloween sugar cookies.
Have you eaten sugar cookies before? They're good, but take a long time to make.

Since it is my first blog, I will use English and next one will be in Japanese! : ) I kind of want to share some of my experiences in September.
I came back from China
on the 26th of August and it has been a month now. Last year, my friends and I
decided to move off campus into a duplex, we were quite excited about this when
we were still in China. However, something expected happened that one of my
roommates did not come to the U.S. because he had gastroenteritis and did not
feel well before boarding. Since he decided to go to a hospital at the last
second, our plans were disrupted. In the first two weeks, we had to find a new
roommate so that we can split the rent among 3 people. It was a headache but
luckily we found someone, not ideal but good enough. I got together with many
old friends last two weeks after the house issue settled. The friend who
suffered from gastroenteritis stayed in a hospital for 3 weeks and now
discharged. Hopefully, he will get better. Life is getting on right
track!
Living off campus
somehow makes me feel hungry sometimes. Not having a meal plan means I need to
go home for food most of the times. Since cooking is somehow time-consuming, I
usually cook one meal or less a day. I consider it as a good idea of eating
less and eating healthier. Anyway, ちょっと痩せたいんけど。:)
